How to care for your barong and filipiniana

(Hand washing using mild soap is always best)

Washing and removing stains

​

  • DO NOT dry clean your filipiniana and barong garments. The process contains chemicals that may make the Barongs and filipiniana fabrics brittle and shorten their life span.

  • DO NOT wash the garments in the washing machine. 

  • Try to remove any stains immediately after they are formed, by using a soft toothbrush or a cotton ball to brush away any stubborn stains using a mild stain remover.

  • Soak and wash the garment in lukewarm water and mild laundry detergent and remove all soapy residue.

 

Drying

​

  • Air-dry on a plastic or wooden hanger. DO NOT over wring.  Smoothen out the garment by hand. Avoid the use of metal hangers to avoid rust. Remove the garment while it is still slightly damp.

  • For quick drying of your Filipiniana made of organza material, place the item on top of a dry towel, making sure it's flat and in its original shape then roll up the item in the towel (like a sleeping bag) to remove excess water. For faster drying, use more than one towel and repeat several times. DO NOT put them in the dryer, instead lay flat or hang to dry.

 

Ironing or steaming

​

  • Iron at low to medium heat while the garment is still damp or, alternatively,  use steam. Use a pressed cloth over any embroidered or painted areas of the clothing.  Otherwise, use a garment steamer on a hanger.

Shipping and Delivery

All orders from the website will be posted the next business day except for pre-orders.

 

Standard Shipping - approximately three to seven business days, delays may occur during transit and could take up to 14 business days.

Express Shipping - Approximately two to five business days.

Note from Australia Post: "Express Post guarantee currently suspended.  Express Post remains our fastest postal delivery option, but current circumstances mean we can't guarantee next-business-day delivery at the moment."

International Shipping - We do ship internationally.  Lead times vary and are dependent on the country of destination.  Please contact us if you require any assistance.

Custom Orders

Do you have inspiration and are wanting something made custom and unique to your personality?

 

Our team at Filipiniana Australia are here to help you bring your vision to life.  Contact us and send us your inspiration (photo) and we will get back to you with a quote and lead time.  Send us your measurements by following our measurement guide to ensure a proper fit.  Please measure at least twice.  We will make your filipiniana/barong according to your measurements and design.  Our production team will add necessary allowance as required (chest, waist, hips, etc.) to ensure a proper fit.

We do understand that people’s size may vary from time to time.  We are not accountable for the customer’s size inconsistency.  Ideally, we need 8-10 weeks from measurement to the delivery of item(s).  We kindly ask for you to allow us enough lead time for our production team to complete your order.

Tips:

  • For women’s dresses, please consider the undergarments you will be wearing on the occasion prior to measuring for custom gowns or filipinianas.

  • If you are planning to lose weight or undergo any medical/enhancement procedure, keep your realistic target in mind when sending us your final measurements.

Colour Matching

There may be slight variations in the colour of the material or fabric as most of the garments go through a manual dyeing process.  We strive to colour the match items to the best of our ability but we can NOT guarantee a 100% match all the time.  Colour variations are not considered as defects.  Some fabrics may also show slight imperfections which are normal for natural products, especially handcrafted garments.

Refund and Returns

At Filipiniana Avenue, we take pride in what we do.  We carefully inspect our items before shipping them and we have quality controls set in place to make sure you receive the best quality garments because we want you to be satisfied with your purchase.

 

Please be patient with us as we go through the exchange and return process.  We appreciate your support.

Exchange

 

Please contact us at Filipiniana Avenue promptly if the merchandise is in the incorrect size or is defective upon arrival.  We accept exchanges of *unused items posted within 20 days of purchase. We will not charge a restocking fee (within the 20-day period of exchange) for the returning merchandise.

 

  • Contact our Filipiniana Avenue team within 5 days and inform us of your intention of exchange as soon as you become aware of the incorrect size or faulty item.  Please state your case clearly. 

  • Take photos of the defective item and provide a brief description of the defect to speed up the assessment.

  • Make sure you contact us for the correct size you want as a replacement, subject to the availability of the design and size.

  • Make sure that the item you are exchanging is unworn and unwashed with all the tags still intact.  Please handle the merchandise carefully and send it back in its original condition with a copy of your invoice

  • For incorrect size(s) ordered by the customer, the cost of returning the item is their responsibility.  However, there is no shipping charge if the return is due to Filipiniana Avenue’s oversight.

 

 

Refund / Return

 

Please contact our Filipiniana Avenue team promptly If the merchandise you receive is defective upon arrival.  We accept returns of *unused items posted within 20 days of purchase.  Return shipping charges and original shipping charges are non-refundable and are the responsibility of the customer. Once a return has been inspected by our team and approved, the credited amount will be processed within 5 to 10 days in the original form of payment.  We are also able can also give you store credit as an option.  If you are unsure about any of the processes mentioned, please feel free to ask us for assistance from our team.

 

We do not offer refunds if a customer:

  • Simply changed their mind.

  • Found the product cheaper elsewhere.

  • Was aware of the relevant fault before purchasing the product.

  • Damaged the product by mishandling it. *Any signs of use and damage, or modifications on the product are not eligible for a refund.  This includes any stains on the fabric, unpleasant odours, pet hair, etc.

 

 

Custom made

 

Custom made and personalized items are NOT eligible for refund/returns or exchange.  Please make sure to double check your size and measurements before finalising your order to avoid any issues.
